My Master's Degree Experience at Euro-Mediterranean University in Slovenia

My name is Emna, and I am from Tunisia. After completing my undergraduate studies in Business Administration, I pursued a master’s degree in Intercultural Business Communication at EMUNI in Slovenia. EMUNI focuses on Mediterranean culture and is part of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM). Before applying for this program, I never could have guessed how profoundly it would change my life. Here are the steps I took on this life-changing journey.

Application Process

I applied online through their website, and the application process was smooth and straightforward. I submitted my bachelor’s degree and transcript of records for the master’s program. Even when I encountered issues or lacked certain documents, the academic staff was always ready to help and guide me through the process, ensuring I had everything I needed to complete my application successfully. Their prompt responses and clear instructions made the process easy. Regarding GPA, I was at the top of my class, consistently achieving straight A's. My total score was 9.8/10, which reflected my dedication and hard work.

The application fees are free, but once they like your profile you will only need to pay registration fees which was really affordable.

Scholarship

You need to apply for a scholarship separately. The process is straightforward, and the university provides clear guidelines on how to apply. My scholarship covered my tuition fees and accommodation during the face-to-face periods, which significantly reduced the financial burden and allowed me to focus on my studies.

To cover additional expenses, you would need around €300 for food and leisure, excluding accommodation, which is around €300-€400. This amount ensures a comfortable living experience without financial strain.

My major

I am enrolled in the Master Study Programme: Intercultural Business Communication. This master’s degree is an interdisciplinary program integrating knowledge and skills to support the communication of market actors, including enterprises and non-profit organizations. The curriculum emphasizes contemporary business administration modes, such as internet marketing and international strategies, as well as essential soft skills like intercultural dialogue and relations. Additionally, it focuses on developing an excellent command of English and other Mediterranean languages. The variety of themes covered by the modules delivers a well-rounded, holistic business education.

University resources

The university offers numerous resources to enhance our learning experience. We have field trips to explore nearby cultures and practice our language skills, and we are regularly visited by highly renowned writers who teach us the art of writing. These resources significantly enrich our academic journey.

There are also opportunities to study or do traineeship mobility abroad. I was fortunate to live in three countries (Spain, Italy, Belgium) during my studies and complete my internship there. Additionally, I received an Erasmus+ grant, which provided financial support for these experiences.

University Location

The location is amazing! The campus is situated in Piran, a beautiful coastal town in Slovenia. Studying at EMUNI allows you to combine your academic pursuits with the chance to live in a charming seaside location. Being between Italy and Croatia makes weekend trips to different cities and countries easy, as they are just 30 minutes to 1 hour away from the campus.

Activities on campus

I was part of the management board, which gave me a stronger sense of belonging to the university. As for extracurricular activities, the university provides us with bikes and other facilities to ensure we are never bored. They organize movie sessions, pizza parties, and musical events, which are great for relaxation and socializing.

Student Body

The student body is incredibly diverse. We all live in the same area, making it easy to hang out and meet new people. The small class sizes foster close relationships, and everyone comes from different parts of the world. This diversity enhances our learning about intercultural behavior, and every day we learn something new about each other’s countries.
