The International Economics Olympiad (IEO) is a free annual global competition for high school students, bringing together participants from up to 74 countries to compete across three disciplines: a 40-question Finance & Economics multiple choice test, five open-ended economics questions (four graded per student's choice), and a business case presentation before an international jury (conducted in English).
Participation is free for competing students. Entry is through national selection — students must first qualify through their country's national economics competition or olympiad. National teams consist of up to five contestants and one or two team leaders. The international event is typically held in the summer.
