About the Program

The International Chemistry Competition (IChC) is a three-round online chemistry competition open to high school and university students from 190+ countries. It has three age divisions: Junior (≤10th grade and under 16), Youth (11th–13th grade or age 16+), and Senior (1st year university and above, or age 19+).

The competition runs in three rounds each spring. The Qualification round is free — students submit solutions to five creative chemistry problems online. Those scoring above the threshold advance to the Semi-Final, a 60-minute supervised exam with three problems based on a research paper distributed in advance (€12 registration fee). Top scorers then compete in an approximately 40-minute online Final with around 30 mixed-format questions. Prizes include international gold, silver, and bronze medals across all three divisions, national awards, and certificates for all participants. Total prize value exceeds $1,500 USD.

The 2026 competition ran March–June 2026. The 2027 cycle is expected to follow a similar schedule; check intchc.org for announcements.
