Overview of International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO)

The International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students. It is held annually in a different country and has expanded to over 100 countries from 5 continents. The IMO Board ensures the competition takes place each year and that each host country observes the regulations and traditions.

  • The organization hosting an IMO pays for all relevant local expenses (i.e. accommodation, food and local travel). Participating teams must pay for their international travel.

Eligibility Requirements

Participants must be high school students. Selection is done through national-level competitions in participating countries.

๐Ÿ‘ฅ Age Requirements

Participants must be less than 20 years old on the day of the second contest paper.

High school student.

Application Process

Students are selected to represent their country through national mathematical olympiad competitions run in secondary schools (high schools). There is no direct application process for individual students to the IMO.
