Andover Summer Session is a five-week intensive academic enrichment program held on the campus of Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. Established in 1942, it enrolls hundreds of boarding and day students from across the United States and around the world each summer.
Two enrollment options:
- Boarding (residential): Upper School $11,000; Lower School $11,350 (includes housing and meals)
- Day: Upper School $3,150 (1 course) or $6,300 (2 courses); Lower School Institute $7,750
Course offerings span:
- STEM: biology, chemistry, physics, robotics, computer science, ecology, engineering
- Humanities: history, philosophy, literature, writing, rhetoric
- Arts: ceramics, visual arts, music
- Test prep and college counseling available as add-ons
Eligibility: Rising 7th–12th graders. The Upper School track serves rising 9th–12th graders; the Lower School track serves rising 7th–8th graders.
Financial aid: Approximately $500,000 awarded annually, primarily through partner organizations. International students, independent school attendees, and returning students are not eligible for aid.
International students: Welcome in all tracks; international health insurance ($375) is required for non-US residents. Andover Summer can provide documentation to support a B-2 tourist visa application; the program is not eligible for F-1 student visa issuance.
