Applicants are evaluated based on academic interests, preparedness, and motivation for independent research. The review process is holistic and considers school counselor/teacher feedback, official transcripts, application materials (essays), and a required interview. Applicants should demonstrate academic excellence and writing ability through a proctored essay. Authentic interests are assessed through a professor-blind policy.

The application process includes attending an Info Session, submitting an application with personal and academic details, interest areas, short essays, a long essay, and an unofficial transcript (standardized tests are optional). This is followed by an initial screening. If the application passes the initial review, official materials (Official Transcript, Counselor or Teacher Assessment) are required to be invited for a required interview, which includes a video conference and a timed writing sample. Applications undergo a rigorous evaluation process, and the admission cycle is typically 6-8 weeks long.
