About the Program

The Rockefeller University's Summer Science Research Program (SSRP) is a free seven-week in-person research experience held each summer on the Rockefeller University campus in New York City. Each year, 32 high school juniors and seniors are placed into one of four research teams, each supported by three or more dedicated mentors. Students choose a research question related to their team's topic, commit to approximately 35 hours per week, and present their findings at an end-of-program symposium.

Throughout the program, scholars engage in lab work, data analysis, poster creation, guest lectures, workshops, and networking events. The program is provided free of charge with no application fee; public transit is covered via an OMNY card. Stipends may be available for students experiencing financial hardship who meet attendance and performance requirements.

International and out-of-state applicants are welcome, though participants must arrange their own housing and transportation to New York City. A full seven-week commitment with no gaps is required, and research conducted during SSRP may not be submitted to outside science competitions.
