About the Program

The FAI Young Artists Contest is an annual international art competition organized by the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the world governing body for air sports. Students ages 6–18 create original 2D artwork on an aviation-themed prompt that changes each year — past themes have included "Fly to Save Lives" and similar topics connecting flight to human impact.

The contest runs in three age groups (Junior, Intermediate, Senior) and is organized in two stages: national, then international. Students first enter through their country's national FAI member organization or aviation authority, which runs its own national selection. National winners are submitted to the FAI international jury, which announces international results in late May. The number of participating countries varies each year depending on which FAI member organizations run a national contest.

To enter, find your country's FAI member organization at fai.org/yac. National submission deadlines typically fall in January, with the 2027 cycle launching in October 2026.
