The Management & Technology Summer Institute (M&TSI) is a selective three-week residential program at the University of Pennsylvania for rising high school seniors. Offered by the Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology — Penn's joint Wharton/Engineering degree program — M&TSI selects 75 participants to explore the intersection of business and technology through faculty-taught courses, hands-on engineering labs, prototyping projects, guest lectures from industry leaders, and field trips to companies such as Morgan Stanley and Comcast. Participants earn one college credit upon completion. Need-based financial aid is available for eligible students.
Verified summer 2027 cycle: The M&TSI overview now lists July 11–31, 2027 and a US$11,999 on-campus fee. The current application instructions explicitly close M&TSI applications on January 27, 2027 at 5 p.m. ET; the later general March deadline does not apply. The overview says November 2 opening under its Summer 2027 heading without separately giving the opening year. Decisions begin March 24 and later decisions follow; no later rolling application window is promised.
Current eligibility is rising seniors graduating in 2028, with at least a 3.5 unweighted GPA or equivalent. Standardized test scores are required for M&TSI. Two formal recommendations are required, including one STEM teacher. The Global Youth page gives recommenders seven days after the application deadline while also emphasizing complete materials by posted deadlines. Non-native English speakers need proficiency scores unless their school primarily teaches in English.
The 2027 cost page confirms the US$11,999 fee and excluded US$100 non-refundable application fee, travel and personal costs. The M&TSI overview offers selective full or partial need-based program funding through its separate form; exact scholarship timing and coverage of excluded costs were not verified. The Fisher FAQ still contains 2026/2025 priority dates and a US$9,000 price, so those do not describe the current published 2027 cycle. Checked November 4, 2026.
