About the Program

GW Pre-College Summer Immersion is a two-week, full-day, non-credit program at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., with residential and commuter options. Rising high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors take courses that combine lecture-based instruction with experiential and applied activities, exploring DC's unique academic, political, and cultural resources.

The published 2026 program listed three separate sessions, giving students flexibility on timing. The program cost includes all fees, supplies, room, and board (residential) or program fees and supplies (commuter).

Course tracks offered (vary by session):

  • STEM & Health
  • Business, Data and Innovation
  • Law, Politics & Social Justice
  • Leadership & Civic Engagement
  • Humanities, Languages & Culture

What students do:

  • Take immersive non-credit courses taught by GWU faculty and scholar-practitioners
  • Participate in site visits, guest lectures, and exploration of DC organizations
  • Live on campus with peers from around the world (residential option)
  • Join recreational programming: Smithsonian tours, National Mall events, and more

Financial aid: The checked Summer Immersion pages do not confirm general aid or full funding for a future cycle. Older scholarship documents and funding for separate programs do not establish an award for this offering.

Note: GWU's Cisneros Institute also offers Caminos al Futuro, a separate fully-funded 3-week residential program for Hispanic/Latino rising seniors at U.S. high schools. That program has its own application and timeline.
