About the Program

Global Game Jam (GGJ) is the world's largest game jam community, bringing together developers of all skill levels across 100+ countries to create games collaboratively over 48 hours. Since its founding in 2008, more than 507,000 jammers have created over 110,000 games.

Participants join a local jam site (hosted by universities, studios, makerspaces, and community organizations) or jam online. At the start of the event, a theme is announced globally and teams have 48 hours to design and build a game around it. There are no prizes — the focus is on creativity, learning, and community. All games are made freely available on the GGJ website.

The 2027 jam runs January 25–31. Site host registration opens November 1, 2026; individual jammer registration opens December 1, 2026. Visit globalgamejam.org to find a site near you or to learn about hosting your own.
