About the Program

The Global English Language Olympiad of Southeast Asia (GELOSEA) is an annual English language competition run by GLOW Inc. for students from kindergarten through senior secondary level across Southeast Asia. The competition tests academic English skills with an emphasis on reading, vocabulary, and written expression.

What the test covers:

  • Reading comprehension

  • Analogy
  • Grammar and correct usage
  • Essay writing (secondary levels only)

Format:

  • National Round: 90-minute paper-based or online test; primary levels are graded on 100 marks across four categories; secondary levels include an essay component worth 10 additional marks
  • International Round: Students scoring in the top 60% of the national round qualify; historical April 5–8, 2026 event held in Singapore at D'Resort @ Downtown East; the current 2027 event calendar is listed separately below

Awards:

  • National Round: Diamond, Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals with certificates (top 60%); Honorable Certificate (bottom 40%)
  • International Round: Champion Trophy, 1st/2nd/3rd Runner-Up certificates; cash prize for perfect scorers; souvenir kits for all participants

Calendar checked November 4, 2026: The organizer homepage links its 2026–27 calendar. The GELOSEA row lists registration beginning July 2026, without an exact day; no exact opening is inferred. It separately labels competition dates: Round 1: 2026-09-05; Round 2: 2026-12-27. These are qualifying/national test dates, not universal country registration/payment deadlines. Local entry cutoffs and cutoff clocks/timezones were not verified.

Its international event is 2027-04-08 to 2027-04-12, venue Yogyakarta, Indonesia. An older March 17, 2026 organizer letter hosted by DepEd listed March 19–22, 2027 in Indonesia, differing from the current homepage calendar’s April 8–12 Yogyakarta dates. The current organizer image is used for the listed event, with that older schedule disclosed. Registration, payment and detailed exam/arrival timing for this event remain unverified.

The official 2026 event post supports the historical 2026-04-05 to 2026-04-08 event in Singapore; its local check-in arrangements are not upcoming entry deadlines. National tests and the international event are separate stages, with the published higher-60% qualification rule. Current fees and aid coverage were not established by the checked official calendar and guides.

Eligibility

Published programme levels run from kindergarten through grade 12/senior secondary. The higher 60% of national participants qualify for the international round.
