About the Program

Harvard Summer School’s Secondary School Program is selective, credit-bearing summer study. Students choose a four-week course or a seven-week session with the required course load for their format; successful students receive a letter grade and can request a Harvard transcript.

The official 2027 program page, checked November 4, 2026, lists separate four-week sessions June 14–July 8 and July 12–August 5, and a seven-week session June 21–August 6. Residential, Commuting and Online options are offered, with limited four-week Online courses. These are alternatives rather than one continuous June–August program.

Published 2027 costs are USD4,180 for four-credit Online/Commuting; USD8,160 for seven-week eight-credit Online/Commuting; USD9,260 for four-week Residential; and USD15,980 for seven-week Residential. The USD75 nonrefundable application fee is additional. Aid is available to eligible US citizens/permanent residents, but not to late applicants.

The 2027 application calendar confirms the December 1, 2026 opening and January 13 priority, February 10 regular/aid and March 31 late deadlines, all 11:59 p.m. Eastern, with the late window potentially ending sooner if waitlists fill. International 4-Week SSP and seven-week Residential/Commuting applicants needing an I-20/student visa must meet February 10; the calendar gives late-deadline exceptions for international seven-week Online students and current US visa holders permitted for-credit study.

Eligibility requires high-school graduation/college entry in 2027, 2028 or 2029, age at least sixteen by June 13, 2027 and no nineteenth birthday before July 31, 2027. The calendar’s admitted-student payment, registration and move-in tables still carry 2026 dates; equivalent 2027 dates are not yet verified. No subsequent-cycle dates were verified.

For Summer 2027, students must graduate high school and enter college in 2027, 2028 or 2029; be at least 16 by June 13, 2027; and not turn 19 before July 31, 2027. International students are eligible, with visa sponsorship for qualifying Residential/Commuting study; Harvard-sponsored I-20 students cannot take online classes.
