About the Program

The IB Global Youth Action Fund supports youth-led projects aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The official call offers up to US$3,000 per selected project depending on its request and the committee’s decision, alongside mentorship and connections with other young changemakers.

Historical 2026 cycle, checked November 4, 2026: The official calendar lists January 12 opening, January 30 application and school support letter deadlines, April 10 awards, May grant release, June student programming start, November reflection/budget review and December programming end. The page explicitly says the 2026 application period ended. Its local-time instruction follows the time shown to each applicant on Submittable; no universal cutoff clock is stated. The 2027 calendar is unannounced, and January dates must not be rolled forward.

Published eligibility is ages 12–19 at the deadline and secondary-school enrollment, with no requirement to attend an IB World School. Individual or group applications include a pitch deck of at most eight slides, video pitch of at most three minutes and one school recommendation. The linked terms allow teams of up to eight and require guardian consent for minors. They explicitly state no purchase or payment is needed. That verifies free entry, not full project-cost funding.

The October 2026 Generation Global announcement confirms the fund continues within the IB’s youth initiatives, but its wider May 2027 portfolio launch does not establish a new GYAF application window. Exact future dates and cycle-specific requirements remain unknown.

Eligibility

The published 2026 call welcomed secondary-school students worldwide, ages 12–19 at the application deadline, individually or in groups of up to eight. IB World School enrollment was not required. Projects must align with at least one UN SDG and include a school recommendation; minors require guardian consent under the linked terms. New-cycle reference dates are unannounced.

How to Apply

The historical 2026 Submittable application window was January 12–30; school support letters were also due January 30. Materials included the application, pitch deck of at most eight slides, recorded pitch of at most three minutes and school staff recommendation. The page says deadlines follow the applicant’s local time displayed on Submittable, without a universal clock. No 2027 opening or cutoff is announced; do not roll the January dates forward.
