The Rockefeller University Summer Science Research Program (SSRP) is a free seven-week research experience in New York City for current high school juniors and seniors. The 2027 program runs June 21–August 5, 2027, with approximately 35 hours per week and full attendance required. Participants must be at least 16 by the start. The current cohort description gives 32–40 students across four mentored research teams.
Applications are open. All materials, including one recommendation, are due January 4, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time. The official 2027 checklist also requires three short responses in one document, an unofficial transcript and a CV or resume. Selected applicants interview in March, with decisions in April.
There is no application or program fee. An OMNY card covers NYC public transit, and need-based stipends may be available but are not guaranteed. International and out-of-state students may apply, but participants arrange their own accommodation and visas. Research from SSRP cannot be submitted to outside science competitions. The earlier 2026 cohort is historical; its prior catalog dates are not confirmed by these current sources.
