The SAKURA SCIENCE High School Program (SSHP) invites excellent high school students and supervisors from foreign countries (mainly Asia) to Japan for a week. Participants engage in exchange programs coordinated by JST, aiming to foster interest in Japanese science and technology and contribute to global scientific development. The program includes special classes with leading scientists, visits to prominent Japanese universities and research institutes, social activities with Japanese high school students, embassy visits, and cultural experiences.
The 2026 SSHP reports are historical: Group 1 held its closing ceremony May 29, Group 2 on July 3, and Vietnamese students on the Kyoto University course visited Katsura Campus September 9. These isolated activity dates do not establish every group’s complete stay or an annual May–October attendance period. Future SSHP group dates and nomination deadlines, including any 2027 cycle, remain unverified.
The February 9, 2026 guidelines and February 16 application-opening announcements concern JST’s separate Open Application Program courses A–D. They are not student application dates for SSHP.
