The Singapore and Asian Schools Math Olympiad (SASMO) is one of Asia's largest mathematics olympiads, organized by the Singapore International Mastery Contests Centre (SIMCC). Founded in Singapore in 2006, SASMO has grown to engage more than 700,000 students from over 10,000 schools across 50+ countries. Competition dates and registration are administered through SIMCC’s country council partners; a universal April 2027 date was not verified.
Who can enter:
SASMO is open to students from Kindergarten 2 (K2) through Grade 12 (JC1/2), with separate grade-level papers for each division. The competition is designed for the top 40% of the student population and aims to stretch mathematical thinking while remaining accessible enough that students can engage with familiar school-level content alongside more challenging olympiad-style problems.
Competition format:
- Grades 1–12: 90-minute paper with 25 questions across two sections
- Section A: 15 multiple-choice questions (2 points each; −1 for wrong answers)
- Section B: 10 non-routine open-ended questions (4 points each; no penalty)
- Total: 85 points (students begin with 15 points to avoid negative scores)
- K2: 60-minute paper with 15 questions across two sections
Syllabus topics include: arithmetic and statistics, geometry and mensuration, word problems, number patterns, divisibility, spatial visualization, logic problems, and cryptarithms.
Awards:
- Perfect Score: Personalized medallion, SGD 100 voucher (up to SGD 5,000 shared among all perfect scorers)
- Gold, Silver, Bronze: Medal and certificate
- Honorable Mention and Certificate of Participation: E-certificate

Calendar checked November 4, 2026: The dedicated official registration page still gives historical 2026 options: Singapore schools choose a date within March 9–April 7; private candidates March 28 or March 29. The SIMCC overview gives an international March 9–April 18, 2026 window. Each participant takes a level-specific paper on a selected local date; these windows are not continuous attendance spans. No exact 2027 opening, competition date or entry deadline was established, so the previous April 2027 claim is unconfirmed.
Published 2026 Singapore school/private fees were SGD30 inclusive of GST and SGD57 subject to 9% GST plus 4% processing respectively. Country partners set other local fees. Neither these historical amounts nor general April recurrence establishes a new-cycle price/calendar. The programme overview explicitly includes K2 to grade 12, while the organizer’s broad competition listing uses grades 1–12; no additional hard age range is inferred.
