TASS will not run in 2027. On September 21, 2026, the Telluride Association Board announced it will not offer TASS summer sessions in 2027 while it reviews the program following challenges during the 2026 program year, including the early end of the 2026 Ithaca session due to a staffing shortfall. Telluride says it intends for TASS to return, but has not announced a timeline or future application dates.
The historical 2026 Telluride Association Summer Seminar (TASS) was planned as a fully-funded, five-week residential program for high school sophomores and juniors at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY and the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. In its educational design, TASS prepares and inspires promising young students to lead and serve through transformative educational experiences rooted in critical thinking and democratic community. Participants attend college-level seminars in humanities and social sciences, exploring how power and privilege shape social structures. Outside of class, students participate in democratic self-governance, community service, transformative justice practices, and public speaking. Telluride Association covers all program costs for every student, including tuition, books, room and board, field trips, and facilities fees, with additional financial aid available for travel and to replace summer earnings.
Historical schedule and future status checked November 4, 2026: the Board's official pause announcement confirms no summer 2027 sessions and an intention to return without a stated timeline. The program page, 2026 application portal, and applicant FAQ support the retained October 15, 2025 opening, December 3, 2025 deadline and planned June 21–July 25, 2026 schedule. The Board's later report of Ithaca ending early qualifies that planned end date; no exact early-end date is supplied here. The 2026 age, grade, international eligibility, funding, and course rules are historical rather than terms for an announced future cohort.
The historical 2026 applicant FAQ specified birthdates July 26, 2008–June 21, 2011 for students in US high school or homeschool, and July 26, 2009–June 21, 2011 for students abroad without a US passport. These supported historical eligibility windows are not requirements for an announced future cycle.
