About the Program

UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music Summer Intensives are week-long programs on the UCLA campus in Los Angeles for high school musicians ages 14–18, led by UCLA faculty and industry professionals. Each track culminates in a live student showcase or capstone project.

Program highlights:

  • Global Jazz: Collaborative classes, composition, and ensemble projects with UCLA faculty and Herbie Hancock Institute fellows; culminates in student performance
  • Songwriting: Original song creation; capstone live showcase and livestream
  • Voice Performance: Vocal technique, repertoire, diction, and college audition prep; live performance showcase
  • Music Production: Mic technique, vocal mixing, MIDI, beat creation, and mixing
  • Music Industry: Real-world music industry economics, politics, and social perspectives; group capstone project presented to industry professionals

Tuition: ~$1,533/session. $500 deposit due within 15 days of admission; balance due May 29.
