About the Program

The Ventura Challenge is a virtual competition in which high school founders develop startup ideas and receive industry feedback, with prize funding and mentorship for leading teams.

Historical 2026 cycle: registration opened June 15; workshops ran July 15–27; submissions were due July 29 at 11:59 PM EST, using the organizer's stated timezone. August 13 was the Top 50 announcement, August 20 the Top 20 announcement, and August 29 the top three winners announcement. August 13 was not the final prize day. The organizer's FAQ says the submission portal is closed and plans for another cycle are in progress; it gives no next registration date.

The official website and linked Devpost pages differ in some 2026 instructions: the website requests a 3–5 minute pitch, while Devpost requests 2–4 minutes. Devpost's rules permit solo entrants or teams of up to four, replacing the previous catalog's unsupported 2–5 claim. Its overview adds age 13+ and unspecified standard country exceptions even though the website welcomes students worldwide. These details are disclosed as historical source differences rather than resolved into unsupported next-cycle rules.

The October 25 press release describes a free educational ecosystem, but the checked pages did not provide an explicit competition entry-fee statement. The previous numeric zero fee has therefore been removed.

Sources checked November 4, 2026: official process and 2026 calendar, FAQ, press release, linked Devpost overview, and Devpost rules. The next cycle's dates, eligibility, fees, and submission rules remain unannounced.

Eligibility

For 2026, the website described grades 9-12 worldwide; linked Devpost rules allowed individuals or teams of up to four. The Devpost overview also specified age 13+ and all countries/territories excluding unspecified standard exceptions. Next-cycle eligibility is not yet announced.

How to Apply

Historical 2026 process: register an initial startup idea, attend workshops, and submit a pitch video and materials. The website specified 3-5 minutes while the linked Devpost overview specified 2-4 minutes; these differing historical instructions are not treated as next-cycle rules. The next application window is unannounced.
