About the Program

WRO® RoboMission is a challenge-based competition where students design, construct, and program an autonomous robot to solve specific challenges on a field. The field setup is randomized each round, requiring the robot to make its own decisions. Starting in 2025, teams have free choice of robot, controller, and materials in line with regulations.

2026 entry route, checked November 4, 2026: The international events page confirms the San Juan final on December 8–10. Teams qualify and register through their national organizer; Open Championship places also depend on regional quotas. Local entry deadlines are set nationally. The final host website lists US$375 per participant, with possible taxes or administration charges and non-refundable registration. It states that delegation registration and payment have deadlines but does not publish exact dates. The official registration system requires organizer login. No universal student application cutoff is established by these public pages. Future-season dates remain unannounced in the reviewed sources.

The 2026 RoboMission rules specify calendar-year birth ranges and allow compliant hardware choices. The 2026 Open Championships in the USA and India (September 25–27) and Croatia (October 13–16) are historical alternatives. The Croatia registration page describes national delegation registration no later than six weeks beforehand, with the precise date subject to host confirmation.

Eligibility

Teams consist of 2-3 people guided by a coach. Hardware and software choices are free (new starting 2025 season). The maximum robot size is 25 x 25 x 25 cm. 2026 international rules: Elementary 8–12 (born 2014–2018), Junior 11–15 (born 2011–2015), Senior 14–19 (born 2007–2012). The maximum age is the age reached in the competition calendar year; national rules may differ.

How to Apply

Register for the competition in your country through its WRO National Organizer. National selection is required for the International Final; Open Championship allocations and registration also go through National Organizers. Local deadlines vary, and the public 2026 finals pages do not give an exact delegation registration or payment cutoff.
