Yale Summer Session (Pre-College) lets rising seniors and recent high school graduates take two credit-bearing Yale undergraduate courses taught by Yale faculty, alongside enrolled Yale students held to the same academic standards. Students may order an official Yale transcript (for a fee) after completing their courses. Courses are offered both in-person in New Haven and online.

The estimated total excludes the application fee, since it is paid before admission, and the enrollment deposit, since $500 of it is credited toward the tuition figure above (the remaining $50 is a non-refundable administrative fee).
International students requiring an I-20 pay an additional $125 processing fee and $140 CISI health insurance fee (per 5-week session).
Academics:
- Take two 1-credit Yale undergraduate courses per session (maximum allowed for pre-college students)
- Choose from a wide catalog spanning sciences, humanities, social sciences, quantitative fields, languages, and arts
- Some courses restrict pre-college enrollment — check individual course descriptions
- Courses may be taken in-person, online, or one of each per session
- Official Yale transcript available from the Office of the Registrar
Residential:
- Pre-college students taking in-person courses are required to live on campus unless commuting from a family home in the New Haven area
- Students under 18 live together in a residential college and follow a curfew and special regulations
- Yale undergraduates serve as residential counselors
Financial aid: Yale Summer Session explicitly does not offer financial assistance to high school students. Students are encouraged to consult their school's college counselor or explore external scholarships.
