The Japan International Science and Mathematics Olympiads (JISMO) is an online competition in mathematics and science for primary school students, organized by Yayasan Mirai Indonesia (Mirai Indonesia Foundation). Despite the "Japan" in the name, the organization is based in Jakarta, Indonesia — "Mirai" (future in Japanese) reflects the org's branding philosophy. The competition runs seasonally, with students choosing their own test date from a set of weekly options within each season's window.
Competition format:
- Online, taken individually at home or at school
- Students select one competition date from multiple weekly slots within the season
- Offline administration available for schools that request it from the JISMO committee
- Two subjects offered independently: Mathematics and Science
2026 Autumn season dates:
- Registration opens: June 1, 2026
- Competition window: September 26; October 3, 10, 17, 24, 31; November 7, 2026 (choose one date)
- Results scheduled: November 20, 2026
- Medals and certificates delivered: mid-December 2026 to mid-January 2027
International registration and preparation: The public Other Countries form offers Primary 1–6, Math and Science, and charges USD 24 per subject via Peatix for Autumn 2026. Domestic Indonesian fees were not confirmed on the checked public pages. The previous catalog described four-session preparation classes at USD 50 per subject; that separate preparation price was not reverified for this cycle.
Awards: Medals and certificates for top performers, with named tiers of One-Star through Five-Star, Diamond, and Ruby; the scoring criteria for each tier are not published.
Checked November 4, 2026 against the official event notices, parent/caretaker registration route and public Other Countries form. The homepage includes both a June 1 opening notice and an Autumn closing/thank-you message, while the form still lists Autumn sittings, including an October 31 special-arrangement label. These mixed notices do not establish current registration availability. No exact registration cutoff or Spring 2027 schedule is announced. The homepage lists grade-specific online awards ceremonies December 4, 7 and 8, 2026, plus an offline ceremony November 28; those are separate from each student’s chosen test day.
