About the Scholarship

This is one of the few awards that funds a taught master's to the same depth that the famous undergraduate scholarships fund a first degree. Tuition and fees for the whole normal duration, 2,300 Canadian dollars a month to live on during academic terms, a relocation grant to get to Montreal, and up to 5,000 dollars for a summer initiative if a term is not being taken.

The eligibility window is wider than most. A current student on track to finish a first bachelor's by August 2027 qualifies, so does anyone who graduated since January 2021, and so does an earlier graduate who was 30 or younger at the start of 2026. Someone several years into working life is squarely inside this, which is unusual for an award of this size.

Note the two deadlines, because they are more than a month apart and the international one comes first: 19 August for international applicants and 23 September for applicants from Canada and the United States, both at 4pm Eastern, for entry in 2027.

Selection runs through regional interviews and then a final round, and the entrance awards act as a consolation tier with real money attached. Around 100 are made, worth 10,000 dollars to Canadian finalists and 20,000 a year for up to two years to international finalists, so reaching the later rounds is worth something even without the full award.

Two applications are needed, not one. The scholarship has its own portal, and admission to the McGill programme is applied for separately, so a scholarship offer depends on getting a place as well.

The programme overview and the application page were checked on 16 September 2026.

Tuition and fees for the full normal duration of the master's or professional programme, a living stipend of 2,300 Canadian dollars a month during academic terms, a one-off relocation grant for moving to Montreal, and up to 5,000 dollars for a summer initiative in place of an academic term. Separately from the full award, the programme makes about 100 entrance awards: for Canadian applicants 10,000 dollars to finalists and 5,000 to regional awardees, and for international applicants 20,000 dollars a year for up to two years to finalists and 10,000 to regional awardees.

Eligibility

Meet one of three routes on timing: be a current student on track to earn a first bachelor's degree by August 2027, or have earned a first bachelor's degree in the last five years meaning January 2021 or later, or have earned it earlier while being 30 or younger on 1 January 2026. Applicants must also meet the minimum degree and language requirements for admission to their chosen McGill master's programme, and the programme itself must be on the scholarship's eligible list. Selection is on merit, assessed through regional interviews before a final round.

Eligible Countries

Open to applicants of any nationality. Canadian and United States applicants and international applicants apply on separate deadlines, and the entrance awards are worth different amounts for each group.

How to Apply

Apply through the scholarship's own portal rather than through McGill, then apply separately to the McGill programme itself. Shortlisted candidates are invited to regional interviews, and finalists to a final selection round in Montreal. Candidates who are not selected for the full scholarship may still receive one of the entrance awards.
