About the Scholarship

One form, every award. NTU considers a single scholarship application for all the scholarships and awards a candidate qualifies for, which removes most of the work of comparing them. Last year it made over 1,300 awards to students from more than 80 countries.

The range runs from £2,000 to 50% off tuition, and every award arrives as a fee reduction once the student enrols rather than as a payment.

The largest are the NTU Excellence Scholarships, awarded competitively at 50% or 25% off the first-year fee. NTU publishes what that means in cash: £9,150 to £12,500 off at the 50% level and £4,525 to £6,250 at the 25% level, depending on the course. Undergraduates also take £3,000 off each subsequent year, which the postgraduate awards do not carry.

Below them sit the country and school awards, mostly for master's applicants. £4,000 for Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Latin America and the Caribbean, Malaysia, the Philippines, Serbia and Turkey; £5,000 for Europe, Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan and Vietnam; and 50% off tuition for the Taiwan STEM and Women in Computer Science awards. The Merit-based Awards add £3,000 to £4,000 for master's applicants from Bangladesh, China, India, Sri Lanka, Sub-Saharan Africa and Thailand, with criteria that vary by country.

Two awards are open to every master's applicant regardless of country: the £3,000 NTU International Merit Scholarship and the £2,000 NTU International Scholarship. A 20% Sibling Loyalty Reward also exists, claimed by email with both siblings' birth certificates and NTU ID numbers rather than through the form.

The order matters. An offer to study must already be in hand, and a current NTU student cannot apply at all. On the Merit-based Awards, ticking the box is enough to be considered, but only completing the whole form including the essay puts the higher-value awards in reach.

For January 2027 entry the first deadline is 30 September 2026 and the final one is 31 October 2026 at 16:00 GMT. The September 2027 scheme had not launched when this page was checked, and NTU notes the listed awards may change.

The international scholarships page was checked on 16 September 2026.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

Awards run from £2,000 up to 50% off tuition fees and are applied as tuition fee reductions once the holder enrols. The NTU Excellence Scholarships give 50% or 25% off the first-year fee, which NTU puts at £9,150 to £12,500 off at the 50% level and £4,525 to £6,250 at the 25% level depending on the course, with undergraduates also receiving £3,000 off each later year. Country and School Scholarships pay £4,000 or £5,000 for master's students from named countries, with 50% tuition awards for the Taiwan STEM and Women in Computer Science schemes. Merit-based Awards for master's applicants run from £3,000 to £4,000 by country. Every master's applicant can also apply for the £3,000 NTU International Merit Scholarship or the £2,000 NTU International Scholarship, and a 20% Sibling Loyalty Reward is available on request.

Eligibility

Hold an offer to study a full-time Bachelors or Masters course at NTU before applying, and be a new international or European student. Anyone currently studying at NTU is not eligible. Awards go to students who demonstrate excellent academic achievement and the potential to contribute to the University community, and the NTU Excellence Scholarships and the Country and School Scholarships are awarded competitively on the strength of the application. Criteria for the Merit-based Awards vary by country and are published on the individual country pages.

Eligible Countries

Open to new international and European students; the scheme is closed to anyone already studying at NTU.

How to Apply

One form covers everything. A single application is considered for every scholarship and award the candidate is eligible for, and it can only be submitted once an offer is in hand. For the Merit-based Awards, fill in the personal details and tick the box asking to be considered; completing the full form including the essay opens the higher-value awards as well. The Sibling Loyalty Reward sits outside the form and is claimed by emailing international@ntu.ac.uk with both birth certificates and both NTU ID numbers. External scholarships such as Chevening and the Commonwealth Masters Scholarships cannot be applied for through the NTU form, and NTU cannot waive the advance payment for them, though it will issue an academic unconditional offer letter on request where the advance payment is the only remaining condition.
