Temple picks two incoming international students a year for the #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarship, an annual renewable award of $20,000. Temple helped start the national #YouAreWelcomeHere campaign in 2016 and this award grew out of it.
Eligibility is tightly defined. You must be a first-year international applicant, which Temple describes as someone holding citizenship in a country outside the United States who does not also hold US citizenship or permanent residency. The selection looks for interest and personal initiative in intercultural learning and exchange.
There is a separate application with an essay or video, due by 1 February, on top of your Common Application to Temple. Winners hear by 1 April and secure the award with an enrolment deposit by 1 May. With only two awards a year, the odds are long, though the application itself is short.
