About the Scholarship

CU Boulder's Presidential Scholarship pays $15,000 a year for four years to incoming non-resident first-year students, and international applicants count as non-resident.

What is unusual is how it is decided. The university publishes no grade or test threshold and says test scores are not reviewed even if submitted. Academics are the focus of review, alongside personal background, and the admission application is the only application.

Be clear about the ceiling. The university states plainly that it has no full-ride award and no scholarship that lets a non-resident pay resident tuition, and a student cannot hold this and the Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship at once.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$15,000 a year, renewable for four years, so $60,000 in total. Students admitted for autumn 2025 or earlier hold an older tier of $15,000 for two years then $12,500 for two. It cannot be held alongside the Chancellor's Achievement Scholarship.

Eligibility

Entry as a non-resident first-year student, with non-resident status maintained; receiving an in-state tuition exception ends eligibility. There is no grade or test threshold, and test scores are not reviewed even if sent.

Eligible Countries

The university's scholarship FAQ states that international students are eligible and were considered for its non-resident scholarships, naming the Presidential and Chancellor's Achievement awards.
