Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshops

ClosedWritingSummer Program

About the Program

The Kenyon Review Young Writers Workshops are a suite of creative writing programs for high school students offered by The Kenyon Review, a literary journal published by Kenyon College. Three formats are available: a 6-week winter online workshop, a 1-week summer online workshop, and a 2-week summer residential program on the campus of Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio. All formats focus on developing students' craft in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, or other genres through workshops with experienced writers and editors. The residential program costs $2,575 all-inclusive (tuition, housing, meals); summer online is $995 and winter online is $695. Need-based financial aid is available for all formats, and the residential program is usually able to meet the full amount requested. International students are welcome, though aid does not cover travel costs.

Eligibility

Open to high school students worldwide. All formats require an online application, a 300-word personal statement, and a high school transcript; the residential program also requires a letter of recommendation. Acceptance is not affected by requesting financial aid. 16-18 years old at the time of the program. Summer Online and Residential Workshops: rising juniors, rising seniors, or recent high school graduates only (rising sophomores not eligible). Winter Online Workshops: open to current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
