Bocconi4Access is a ladder, not a single award. One application is assessed against every tier in turn, starting with the largest, so an international first-year applicant is considered for the 100% exemption from academic tuition and fees first and, failing that, for the 80%, 60%, 40% and 20% waivers below it.
Every tier, not just the 100% exemption, is reserved for international students entering the first year of a Bachelor's degree, a Law program or the HEC-Bocconi double program. What changes between tiers is the size of the award, not who can apply.
What decides the outcome is the household's economic and asset condition, verified document by document by the Fees, Funding and Housing Office. Bocconi states that no benefit is assigned on a single criterion, which means a strong case on one measure does not carry an application.
The budget is the real constraint. Waivers are granted until the allocated resources run out, with priority to complete applications and to the households in the most severe financial condition. Meeting the requirements is not the same as receiving an award.
The order of steps catches people out. Enrolment comes first, because the MyApplication portal only opens to enrolled students, and credentials take about two hours to activate after enrolment completes. Only then can the application be submitted, and only within the window for the admission round taken.
Renewal runs year by year for the legal duration of the course, subject to merit requirements. Holders still pay the first installment advance each year, with the amount adjusted once the waiver is confirmed, so the cash flow is not zero even with a full waiver.
An award that is not formally accepted by the date stated in the official result is forfeited.
