About the Scholarship

Chevening is the UK government's international scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. It offers a fully funded one-year master's degree at any UK university to citizens of eligible countries and territories who show leadership potential and a commitment to their home country.

The award covers tuition fees, a monthly living allowance, economy return travel, the visa application cost, and arrival and departure allowances. Three tracks exist: Standard Chevening Scholarships, Chevening Small Island Developing States Scholarships, and Chevening ASEAN Scholarships, each with country-specific participation rules.

Scholars also take part in a structured programme of events with access to alumni, UK government officials, and partner organisations during their year of study. The 2027/28 cycle opened on 4 August 2026 and closes on 6 October 2026.

Country eligibility is subject to the provider's published requirements, checked on 12 September 2026.

The citizenship and residency requirements, including the British Overseas Territory and Hong Kong BN(O) exceptions, were checked on 13 September 2026.
