This is the top of five first-year bands and the largest award Coastal Carolina publishes for international students.

Two things to plan around. Only one merit award can be held, so the bands do not stack, and the university says openly that funding historically runs out for applicants who apply after the priority dates. Renewal conditions are not published in advance; they arrive with the offer letter.

Tuition

$19,662 a year. A student may hold only one merit award and they cannot be combined. Renewal conditions are not published; the university sends them with the offer letter. Full-time enrolment of 12 to 18 credit hours a semester is required.

Eligibility

An SAT of 1390 or above, an ACT of 31, a TOEFL iBT of 110, an IELTS of 8.0 or a Duolingo score of 130, together with the American equivalent of an A average. The university also allows a test-optional route, weighing weighted and unweighted grade averages, its own calculated core average, curriculum rigour including IB and Cambridge A Levels, class rank, recommendations, writing samples and resumes.

Eligible Countries

The university publishes these on a page headed International Student Merit Awards, stating that new incoming undergraduates, both first-year and transfer, are eligible for consideration. Every tier lists English test thresholds and expresses grade requirements as American equivalents.
