About the Scholarship

The Faber Award is the one Fordham award written specifically for students on a non-immigrant visa. It is need-based, and the published range runs from a few thousand dollars up to the cost of first-year full tuition.

There is a hard floor on family contribution. Fordham asks the CSS Profile formula to show at least $50,000 a year towards the cost of attendance before an international applicant qualifies, and it states plainly that it is need-sensitive, so a large need can weigh against your admission. About 7 percent of international aid applicants receive an award.

The paperwork is the work here. Answer yes to the aid question on the Common Application, file the CSS Profile under code 2259, and have each biological parent complete one. Miss the date for your admission plan and your file is read for admission only.

Loans and work-study are not part of the package, and awards are set for all four years at the initial amount, so build in annual cost rises of 3 to 5 percent.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

A need-based institutional grant applied to the Fordham bill. Annual awards range from a few thousand dollars up to the cost of a student's first-year full tuition charges. Loans and work-study are not part of an international aid package, and awards do not cover the full annual cost of attendance.

Eligibility

New first-year applicants for the autumn semester who will study at Fordham on a non-immigrant visa, apply through the need-based admission process, and demonstrate financial need. The CSS Profile Institutional Methodology formula must show a family contribution of at least $50,000 towards the annual cost of attendance. Fordham is need-sensitive for international applicants, so the amount of need can affect the admission decision, and roughly 7 percent of international students who apply for aid are selected. Transfer students cannot apply. Renewal needs full-time status, satisfactory academic progress, a 3.0 cumulative GPA, and compliance with university policies. A recipient who gains US citizenship or a green card while enrolled keeps a Fordham Tuition Award of equal value for up to four years in total.

How to Apply

Select yes when the Fordham member questions on the Common Application ask whether you are applying for financial aid, then submit the CSS Profile (school code 2259) with supporting documents by the deadline for your admission plan. Fordham asks each biological parent to complete a CSS Profile, and no fee waivers are offered. An international first-year aid application without a CSS Profile on file by the deadline is reviewed for admission with no aid consideration.
