About the Scholarship

Idaho State calls this the primary scholarship opportunity for incoming non-resident and international students, and it works as a tuition rate rather than a cheque. Instead of full non-resident tuition you pay 1.5 times the Idaho resident rate, which the university estimates as a saving of over $8,100 a semester.

Eligibility is stated plainly: domestic and international students both qualify. You need a 3.0 GPA to be considered, full-time enrolment of at least 12 credits, and degree-seeking undergraduate status. Post-baccalaureate students and applicants to over-subscribed programmes are excluded.

There is no application beyond admission. Get your file complete, transcripts included, by 1 July for autumn entry or 1 November for spring. Awards are limited and handed out first-come, first-served, so an early complete application is worth more here than a polished essay.

The waiver renews for up to eight semesters against criteria stated in your award letter. Housing, meals, insurance and travel are yours, and any tuition the waiver does not reach is still billed.

What It Covers

  • Tuition
  • Fees

Waives part of the non-resident tuition and fee charges. Recipients pay 1.5 times the Idaho resident tuition rate instead of full non-resident tuition, an estimated saving of over $8,100 per semester depending on the year's rates. Any tuition and fees the waiver does not cover remain billable, and housing, meals, insurance and travel are not included.

Eligibility

Incoming non-resident undergraduate students, new first-year or transfer, who are fully admitted with all transcripts and admission requirements complete by the deadline. Idaho State states that domestic and international students are eligible. A GPA of 3.0 or greater is typically required, enrolment must be full-time at 12 or more undergraduate credits, and the student must be degree-seeking. Post-baccalaureate students and students in over-subscribed programmes are not eligible. A limited number are awarded competitively on a first-come, first-served basis, with preference for strong students in under-subscribed majors. Renewable for up to eight semesters on meeting the renewal criteria.

Idaho State reviews every incoming non-resident undergraduate automatically, so there is no separate form, and all transcripts and admission requirements must be complete by the deadline for your entry term.
