About the Scholarship

Northern Illinois University pays admitted international first-year students between $5,000 and $9,000 a year, on a grade average of at least 3.5.

One condition narrows it sharply: the award is valid only for students who are fully family-sponsored. A student funded by a government or an organisation does not qualify.

The scholarship is renewable. The university does not publish a deadline or state clearly whether a separate application step is required, so confirm both with its admissions office.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$5,000 to $9,000 an academic year. The university does not itemise which costs it applies to.

Eligibility

A cumulative grade average of at least 3.5 as calculated by the university. Students must be fully family-sponsored, so those on a government or organisation scholarship are excluded.

Eligible Countries

Valid only for students who are fully family-sponsored and hold a visa classification that ordinarily requires out-of-state tuition and fees.

How to Apply

Consideration follows admission as a first-year student. The university routes general scholarship consideration through its own scholarship system, and does not state on this page whether a separate step is needed.
