The Global Scholars Program is St. Mary's University's named award for international undergraduates. It pays $2,000 a year on top of any other aid the university offers, and it is explicitly written for students holding an F-1 visa.
Eligibility is narrow in one way only. You must be an incoming international first-year student enrolling full time, and you must keep your F-1 status for the whole of your degree. Selection looks at leadership potential and at what you would bring to cross-cultural life on campus, so the video is where the decision is effectively made.
The effort is modest. One extra application, a résumé and a short video after you have applied for admission. Keeping it means a 3.2 cumulative GPA each year plus good academic and conduct standing.
Treat it as a useful top-up rather than the thing that makes San Antonio affordable. $2,000 a year covers a small slice of a private university bill, so pair it with the merit scholarship that comes with your admission offer.
