About the Scholarship

Padua funds this the simple way: apply to an English-taught degree by its admission deadline and you are automatically in the running, with no separate form and no extra documents. The degree application is the scholarship application.

The award pairs 8,000 euros gross a year with exemption from student fees, leaving only the regional fee and the revenue stamp to pay. It runs three years on a bachelor's or single-cycle degree and two on a master's, and fees become payable again for any year beyond that, so a student who takes longer than the normal duration should plan for the later years.

Selection sits with the Teaching Committee of each individual degree course rather than a central panel, judged on academic excellence in the field and the record of previous study. Awards go mainly to candidates from the first admission call, with second-call candidates considered only exceptionally, which makes applying in the first round materially better than applying later.

There are conditions on keeping it. Holders cannot hold another scholarship, must complete enrolment, and must earn at least 20 ECTS credits by 30 November of the following academic year. Falling short, transferring away or withdrawing revokes the award and the instalments already paid have to be returned.

One caution on eligibility. Padua's English page states that applicants "must not hold a non-Italian secondary school diploma", which read literally would require an Italian qualification and contradicts the rest of the page, including the requirements to hold no Italian citizenship and to live outside Italy. The Call for Applications is the authoritative text, and anyone whose case turns on that condition should read it there rather than rely on the summary page.

What It Covers

  • Tuition
  • Living stipend

8,000 euros gross each academic year, paid in two instalments of 4,000, alongside exemption from student fees. Recipients still pay the regional fee and the revenue stamp. The award runs for a maximum of three years on a bachelor's or single-cycle degree and two years on a master's, after which the holder pays tuition until graduation. It is revoked, with instalments already received repayable, if the holder earns fewer than 20 ECTS credits by 30 November of the following academic year, transfers to another university or withdraws.

Eligibility

Apply to an English-taught bachelor's, single-cycle or master's degree at Padua within the admission deadline, hold a qualification obtained outside Italy, not hold Italian citizenship unless as a dual citizen, and not be resident in Italy when applying. Recipients may not hold another scholarship and must complete enrolment. Selection is made by the Teaching Committee of each degree course on academic excellence in the field and the quality and results of the previous academic career, and the awards are mainly reserved for candidates from the first admission call, with second-call candidates considered only exceptionally.

Eligible Countries

Applicants must not hold Italian citizenship, unless it is a dual citizenship, and must not be resident in Italy at the time of application. Nationality is otherwise unrestricted.

How to Apply

There is no separate scholarship application and no additional documents. Applying to an eligible English-taught degree within its deadline automatically enters a candidate into the competition, so the admission application is the whole process. Results are published on the university website on the timetable set out in the Admission Notice, and successful candidates then receive a notice with the procedure and deadline for accepting the award.
