University of New Mexico
Beca Mexico cuts what a Mexican student pays at the University of New Mexico to one and a half times the in-state rate, a saving the university puts at $17,957 a year.
The academic bar is the lowest of the university's three international awards at a 2.5 grade average, which makes it the accessible route for Mexican applicants who would not clear the Amigo or Leadership thresholds.
Only one university scholarship can be held at a time, so this replaces rather than supplements the others.
Reduces the non-resident tuition rate to one and a half times the resident rate, which the university estimates at $17,957 a year. Fees are not included. Renewable for up to four years as a first-year entrant or two as a transfer, needing 15 main-campus credit hours and a grade average of at least 2.5 each semester. Awards cannot be stacked: a student receives one only and cannot combine it with another university scholarship. Online programmes are not eligible, and the award covers tuition, not fees.
