About the Scholarship

This is the standard merit award for international applicants to the University of Tulsa. It pays between $1,000 and $10,000 a year towards tuition and runs for four years as long as you stay in good academic standing.

UTulsa publishes a table that maps your high school GPA or your English test score to an amount, so you can estimate your award before you apply. A 4.0 GPA, IELTS 8.0 or TOEFL 105 sits at the top of the table at $10,000 a year. The university notes that the figures are averages and that hitting a band gives no guarantee of that exact amount.

There is no separate application. Consideration comes with your international admission application, and the award stacks with Tulsa's Global Ambassador Award, so a strong competition record on top of strong grades can lift the total.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

A partial tuition award paid each year for four years. Fees, housing, meals, health insurance and travel stay with the student.

Eligibility

Based on academic achievement in high school, with published bands: a 4.0 GPA, IELTS 8.0 or TOEFL 105 maps to $10,000; 3.75 to 3.99 GPA, IELTS 7.5 or TOEFL 100 maps to $7,000; 3.50 to 3.74 GPA, IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 90 maps to $4,000; 3.25 to 3.49 GPA, IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 79 maps to $2,000; and 3.00 to 3.24 GPA, IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 70 maps to $1,000. The figures are averages per year, and UTulsa states that meeting a band does not guarantee that level of award. The award runs for four years where the student keeps good academic standing. It stacks with the Global Ambassador Award.
