About the Scholarship

The Ingram Scholars Program pays full tuition at Vanderbilt, all required fees and the value of on-campus housing each year, and adds a stipend for a summer service project. Scholars whose financial need runs beyond the value of full tuition receive additional need-based aid from the university.

It is built for students who plan to combine a business or professional career with a lifelong commitment to community work. The service load is substantial: roughly twenty hours a month during term, one summer service project after the second year, and weekly group meetings to review progress. Renewal runs to the senior year on a 3.0 minimum GPA and the service commitments.

International applicants qualify. Vanderbilt's scholarships FAQ states that international applicants are eligible to receive any of its merit scholarships, and need is not a factor in the award.

There is a separate application through MyAppVU after the admission application, due 1 December 2026 for students entering in autumn 2027. Finalists interview with the selection committee. Students already in their first year at Vanderbilt can apply by 28 February 2027 for the following year.

Full tuition, all required fees and the value of on-campus housing each year, plus a stipend for a special summer service project. Vanderbilt adds need-based aid where a scholar's demonstrated need is larger than the value of full tuition. Meals are not named in the benefit.

Eligibility

Open to first-year applicants of any citizenship. Vanderbilt's scholarship FAQ states that international applicants are eligible to receive any of its merit scholarships, and financial need plays no part in the decision. Selection rests on commitment to civic-minded service, an entrepreneurial spirit, strength of personal character and leadership potential. Scholars give about twenty hours of service a month during term, complete one summer service project after their second year, and meet weekly in large and small groups. The award renews each year to the senior year with a 3.0 minimum GPA and the service requirements met.
