The Centralis Scholar Award is the largest prize at Central Michigan University. It pays tuition for up to 33 credits a year, university fees, on-campus housing and food for four years, and adds a $5,000 award for study away. Recipients enter the CMU Honors Program as part of the package.
CMU's international admissions office states that degree-seeking international high school seniors may be eligible for Centralis and compete just like any other candidate, on the same requirements and deadlines. The Centralis Transfer Scholarship, by contrast, is limited to United States citizens and permanent residents.
Getting it takes two steps. Apply to CMU with a high school GPA of 3.7 or above and the Centralis application link appears in your applicant portal; shortlisted candidates then take part in the on-campus competition. Contact the Office of International Recruitment first, since the international admissions route differs.
Keeping it means staying full-time, earning 30 new CMU credits a year, living on campus for the first two years, and holding a 3.0 cumulative GPA from year three. Centralis cannot be stacked with other CMU merit aid.
