DeSales University awards two tiers of academic merit scholarship, and the Presidential is the upper one, worth US$29,000 to US$32,000 a year. Selection is competitive and comes down to your grade point average and, if you submit them, SAT or ACT scores. Nothing extra is required beyond the admission application.
International applicants are in scope. DeSales states on its undergraduate admissions page that international students can qualify for merit scholarships, while also making clear that federal and state aid is closed to them. So this award, along with the Trustee Scholarship one tier below it, is the main route to a lower bill at DeSales for a student on an F-1.
The money is applied to tuition and nothing else, for up to eight full-time semesters in the traditional day programme. It renews as long as you make satisfactory academic progress, stay full-time and avoid conduct or academic honesty findings. Housing, food and fees remain yours to fund, and DeSales asks international applicants for a statement of finances covering at least one full year of costs.
Apply by 1 December of your final school year for priority consideration. Awards are decided when you are admitted, so an early, complete application is the whole strategy here.
