About the Scholarship

Eckerd College awards $1,000 a year for four years on artistic talent, in creative writing, music, theatre, film or visual arts.

It matters less for the money than for who it reaches: the college names it explicitly among the talent-based awards international students may apply for, which sets it apart from the arts awards at most universities in this directory that say nothing about international eligibility.

Applications close on 1 February and are made separately for each discipline. Note that submitted materials become the property of the college and are not returned.

Tuition

$1,000 a year, awarded annually for four years. Renewal requires meeting faculty in the relevant area for specific criteria.

Eligibility

Talent in creative writing, music, theatre, film or visual arts, for first-year students entering in the autumn term only. Submitted materials become the property of the college and are not returned.

Eligible Countries

The college states it automatically considers international first-year applicants for an International Student Grant, and that while international students are not eligible for need-based aid they may apply to its talent-based scholarships, naming the Artistic Achievement Awards, First-Year Research Associateships and the Community Engagement and Leadership Scholarship.
