Catholic Scholars at St. John's University in New York take part in a four-year developmental programme that turns faith into action. Chosen students receive a grant of up to $5,000 per year, awarded across four years of study.
The commitment runs alongside the money: leadership training, service, prayer, and visible roles in the University's community of faith and service. Students entering a seminary, a diocesan house of discernment or a religious community formation programme cannot take part.
St. John's names this programme among the scholarships available to first-year international students, which is the clause that makes it usable on an F-1 visa. The University states it has no financial aid available for international students, so scholarships carry the whole load.
You apply separately through your student portal after submitting your admission application. The current window has closed, so check the Application Scholarships page for the dates covering autumn 2027 entry.
