About the Scholarship

The International Scholar Award is SUNY Plattsburgh's second chance for international students who did not qualify for its merit scholarship at admission, paying $250 to $1,750 a semester once they reach a 3.25 grade average at the college.

It works semester by semester: reach the average and the award is applied to the next semester, and eligibility continues that way until graduation.

This is a retention award for students already enrolled, not something to apply for from abroad.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

Between $250 and $1,750 a semester, so $500 to $3,500 a year, renewable every semester of continuous enrolment. Students paying the online non-resident tuition rate are excluded, and the transfer table also excludes students in the nursing programme.

Eligibility

A cumulative grade average at the college of 3.25 or above and full-time enrolment in the coming semester. Any semester reaching that average results in the award being applied to the next semester, and eligibility continues until graduation. Students paying the online non-resident tuition rate are excluded, and the transfer table also excludes students in the nursing programme.

Eligible Countries

For currently enrolled full-time international students who entered as international first-year students and did not qualify for the Academic Merit Scholarship at admission.
