About the Scholarship

The International Outreach Award is the University of Cincinnati's main award for international undergraduates, worth $5,000 to $15,000 a year on the Uptown main campus and $2,000 to $4,000 on the regional campuses.

Understand what the money touches. The award can be applied only to the non-resident surcharge, not to the in-state portion of the bill, and it disappears if a student's residency changes to Ohio. The university also states plainly that it offers no full-tuition or need-based scholarships to undergraduate international students.

There is no separate application, and first-year applicants need a complete admission file by 1 November to be guaranteed consideration. A 3.0 grade average is the entry point rather than a guarantee.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$5,000 to $15,000 a year on the Uptown main campus and $2,000 to $4,000 on the Blue Ash and Clermont regional campuses. It can be applied only to the non-resident surcharge, never to the in-state portion of tuition, and is removed if the student becomes an Ohio resident. The university states it offers no full-tuition or need-based scholarships to undergraduate international students.

Eligibility

First-year applicants need an unweighted cumulative grade average of at least 3.0, which the university says does not guarantee an award. Transfer applicants need a 3.00 college grade average plus an associate degree or at least 24 semester hours, and must meet the English requirement. Renewal generally runs eight semesters for first-year entrants and four to six for transfers, on the terms in the award letter.

Eligible Countries

The university states the awards go to students residing outside the United States, or international students living in the United States being charged non-resident tuition, pursuing on-campus undergraduate degrees. Both first-year and transfer students are eligible.
