The Stamps Scholarship is the most valuable award at the University of Miami. Scholars receive the full cost of attendance for eight semesters, or ten for five-year degree programmes, which covers tuition and fees, on-campus housing, a meal plan, University health insurance, textbooks and a laptop allowance. On top of that sits a $12,000 enrichment fund for study abroad, research and unpaid internships, released with prior approval.
Each Stamps Scholar award at a partner university sets its own value and terms, and these are Miami's. Miami also states that every applicant is considered for its merit scholarships regardless of citizenship status, so an international applicant competes on the same footing.
The effort is in the timing rather than in extra forms. You must apply and be admitted under Early Decision I or Early Action, both of which close on 1 November, and there is no application beyond the Common Application. Semi-finalists interview with the university committee by mid-January, finalists are named with the late-January Early Action decisions and then interview with the Stamps Foundation, and winners are announced in early March.
To keep the award you carry a full-time load of at least 12 credit hours each autumn and spring semester and hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. The award can be adjusted if other scholarships or prepaid aid turn up after it is made.
