About the Scholarship

The University of North Florida's International Student Admissions Scholarship waives up to $12,000 a year of out-of-state tuition, and unlike the university's merit waivers it is reserved for international students: F-1 and J-1 holders only.

It asks for a personal statement and a letter of recommendation, and the university calls the process highly competitive with limited awards. Only newly admitted students can apply.

The waiver touches out-of-state tuition alone, not in-state tuition, insurance or housing. Confirm the deadlines with the international centre: the dates published nearby sit under a heading that does not name this award.

Country eligibility is subject to the provider's published requirements, checked on 12 September.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

Up to $12,000 of out-of-state tuition waivers an academic year. The university states it cannot be used for in-state tuition, insurance or housing. It renews automatically for autumn and spring subject to enrolment and academic standing, and is committed for the hours a student's degree requires, though a new contract is signed each term and summer needs a fresh application.

Eligibility

Newly admitted students only; continuing students are ineligible. Selection weighs the academic record, area of specialisation and supporting documents, and the university describes it as highly competitive with limited awards.

Eligible Countries

The university requires F-1 or J-1 status and states the scholarship can only be awarded to F-1 and J-1 international students. It is not country-specific, and dual citizens holding American citizenship are excluded.

How to Apply

A separate application with a typed personal statement and a letter of recommendation. The international centre's published deadlines are 1 July for autumn, 1 November for spring and 1 April for summer, though those dates sit under a heading that does not list this award, so confirm them with the centre.
