The International Excel Award pays $1,000 to $4,000 a year to incoming international students at the University of Northern Iowa, first-year and transfer alike.
Unlike the university's automatic awards, this one needs a separate scholarship application, which opens on 1 July with a priority deadline of 1 February. Selection weighs leadership and service alongside academics, and proof of English proficiency is required.
The award renews for up to four years.
