About the Scholarship

The University of Tampa awards $10,000 to $18,000 a year to first-year students on unweighted grades and course rigour, and states that citizens and non-citizens alike are considered automatically at admission.

One caution worth carrying into your planning. The university's renewal page lists separately named international merit scholarships, and neither publishes an amount anywhere on the site. An international student may therefore be awarded under one of those names rather than this one, at a figure the university has not published. Ask admissions what an international applicant should expect.

The university also states plainly that there is no need-based aid available to non-citizens.

What It Covers

  • Tuition

$10,000 to $18,000 a year as a reduction on the full-time undergraduate tuition rate, which is $34,716 for 2026 to 2027. Renewable annually on satisfactory academic progress, full-time undergraduate enrolment and a minimum grade average, reviewed at the end of each spring, for a maximum of eight semesters or normal degree completion. Paid in autumn and spring only, never summer. The university notes scholarship funds are limited and amounts may change.

Eligibility

Entry from secondary school pursuing a first bachelor's degree, assessed on unweighted grade average and course rigour completed at the time of admission, with demonstrated leadership or community service. Students on the combined bachelor's and master's route keep it until the term they enter the graduate programme.

Eligible Countries

The university states that American citizens and non-citizens are automatically considered for the Presidential or Transfer scholarships at the time of admission, and defines an international student as anyone who is not a citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee. Note that its renewal page lists separately named international merit scholarships, so an international student may be awarded under one of those names instead; those carry no published amounts.
