About the Program

The IYNA Neuroscience Summer Courses is a free annual online program run by the International Youth Neuroscience Association (IYNA), open to high school students worldwide. It runs for approximately six weeks each summer, combining expert-led lectures, hands-on problem solving, and real-world science skills with a global cohort of students.

Two courses are offered: Neuroscience I (beginner-level) and Neuroscience II (advanced). Each course has two participation tracks: the Participant Track (flexible attendance, no homework or project) and the Capstone Track (20–25 hours per week, mandatory lectures, homework, and a research capstone project). Students may dual-enroll in both courses with different tracks. An optional symposium is held after the main program concludes.

The 2026 program runs June 22 – July 31, with an optional symposium on August 8. Applications closed May 15, 2026; the 2027 cycle typically opens in spring.

Eligibility

Open to high school students worldwide with a basic understanding of high school biology. English proficiency is required for the Capstone Track. No prior neuroscience experience necessary.
